In the morning we finally reach a contact at Camping World RV Rental by phone, to be told that nothing can be done until Monday because of weekend.
At the public library, we get an unlimited Internet access to contact our son, Thomas, in France who transmit us the scanned copy of our IDs.
Back at the hotel, we spend a lot of time on the phone to inform and reassure our families in France.
In the afternoon, we are looking for another hotel. We still do not know how long we will stay in Moab and we wish to find a cheaper hotel.
We finally find our happiness in the Super 8 motel. It is cheaper ($ 75) has a computer connected to Internet self-service and a very nice pool. It is far from downtown but we have our bikes!
In the evening, Cindy and Bruce, her husband, invite us in an excellent restaurant where we spend a great evening talking about the castles of the Loire, Sarkozy, Obama ...
Nous quittons le Comfort Suite vers midi, nos maigres bagages sur le dos, et pédalons jusqu'au Super 8 où nous installons nos quartiers. In the afternoon, we ride to the Visitor Center of Arches National Park where we have an appointment with Karen. She gives us a copy of her preliminary report. She kindly agreed to take us to Devil's Garden Campsite to take photo of the wreck of the motorhome.
Finally we get to join a manager at Camping World RV Rental. He has not much to offer us. His only concern seems, for now, be that the motor home was worth $ 70 000 and if it is prooved that we are responsible for the fire, his insurance does not cover. An investigator is on the way to investigate the cause of the fire. As we may know that we have nothing to do with the trigger of the fire, we feel so uncomfortable weight of suspicion. A little later, we finally have a proposal from him. He can put at our disposal another motorhome, from 1 July in Denver. Meanwhile, we were able to contact the consulate and American Express. We have to go to Salt Lake City so that Christine can order a pass. Amex can deliver a new Cedit Card in SLC.
Although the CW has an establishment in SLC, our interlocutor refuses to put the RV available in SLC. We have no choice but to decline his proposal: it is impossible to be in Denver on July 1 when we must in Salt Lake City with the same period. It was also accompanied by the threat to charge us that additional rental in case we'd be held responsible for the fire.
The day is still busy with phone calls and various formalities. Kevin, a friendly guy met at the pool of Super 8 takes us to the post office to make Christine's photo ID required to obtain a pass. A little later, when we ride in Moab, we met Karen, the supervisor of rangers that allows us to talk on the phone with the investigator from the insurance company. His questions are about our schedule, about the gas stove and he asks me if we used candles in the RV! I will repeat what we have already told the Rangers: no, we had not left the gas on and no, we did not use candles in the RV!
Last night in Moab. As every night, we picnic in our motel room. We prepare our small luggage for the trip tomorrow.
