June 24, Moab, Arches National Park and Delicate Arch

we stayed in Moab with our children during our trip in 2000 and we kept an excellent memory of this town. The city has not really changed, with its wide main street and many shops hire quads, 4x4s and other kayaks. Located near two of the most beautiful national parks (Arches and Canyonlands) and near the Colorado River, it is an ideal base camp for hiking, 4x4 driving and all kinds of adventure sports and outdoor activities.
We are in no hurry, because the campsite in Arches National Park has been booked by the Internet. We take this passage to the city to go shopping, drive the RV at the Dump Station and fill water and gasoline tanks. We take advantage of the telephone network and WiFi to contact France. We enter Arches National Park in the middle of the afternoon. We first drive to Devil's Garden campground. Our individual campsite site is very exposed, and a strong wind is blowing. In short, we are not excited but I woke up a little late for the booking and I took what was left ... In fact, in the evening, as the wind is down, the place appear much more enjoyable.
The Delicate Arch trail is a dozen miles from Devil's Garden and road is narrow with a heavy traffic. We finally decide to use the RV instead of bicycles to drive to the parking lot of Delicate Arch.

The trail to Delicate Arch is easy, but it seems to be a highway where all the tourists of the American West (many French, for that matter) are hiking. At the end of the trail, the visitors are sitting on natural benches, waiting for the sunset on the most famous arch in the park, in the United States, and maybe in the world.
We will not be courageous enough to wait with them but we have a good time playing with other tourists to be photographed with the prettiest "cuckoo" under the arch.
Cold beer, perfect barbecue and warm evening: the night at the camp was nice. It had to be the last...

June 25, hiking in Devil's Garden

We leave the campsite at about 7 am, on our bikes. They do we will serve only to reach the starting point for hiking.

We walk in Devil's Garden, first by the Primitive Trail to Dark Angel, before returning to the main path, to Double O Arch. It's a beautiful hike. Around 10 o'clock we hear a fire siren in the distance and we see a column of black smoke rising in the east in the direction of the campsite.
Around 12:00, we find our bikes and we go back to Devil's Garden Campground. So begins another story...
